I went to the doctor yesterday for a checkup/physical.
Note: I pretty much never go to the doctor as I am not often sick or injured. In the last 25 years I believe I have gone to a doctor three* times:
- After a car accident
- After the after-market gauges on my Bronco burst into flames and I burned my hands tearing them off the dashboard
- When I found myself in extreme pain one morning and diagnosed myself with a hernia.
I went yesterday primarily to get a referral to a specialist who can cauterize my vas deferens. In the meantime, as part of the physical, they stole some blood to perform tests.
Needles piercing my body completely in order to install jewelry? Fine. Rapidly vibrating needles depositing ink under my skin? No problem. Needles stabbing into my veins to withdraw blood? It’s all I can do to keep from fainting.
It didn’t help that the needle was 3 feet long and 2 inches wide and they kept it in my arm for about an hour and withdrew roughly 3 gallons of blood (just guessing here; I, of course, had my eyes clenched shut and my head turned away and was concentrating on trying to breathe and remain conscious).
Anyways, I believe I’m still suffering from PTSD.
On the bright side, the doctor also cleared approximately one fuckton of wax out of my ears, so suddenly EVERYTHING IS LOUD AGAIN.
* note, I am not counting the visits to the surgeon who repaired the hernia mentioned in #3.
